GIF stickers are a fun way for users to add a little something extra to their stories on Facebook and Instagram. You can see my brand stickers by searching “Wellington Colorado” or “M Rock Creative” in the Instagram stories GIF function. As of today, my GIFs have more than 170,000 views!
Your brand is probably interacting on Instagram, right? Why not go a step further and create some custom GIF stickers for your business? Here’s how:
Step 1: In order to create GIF stickers for your brand, you must be verified through GIPHY.
To apply for verification, fill out this form and wait! In my experience, the verification process is pretty quick.
Step 2: Create your GIF stickers.
This is where things get a little more technical. In order for your GIFs to be used at stickers in Instagram, they must be uploaded with a transparent background – as stickers. Depending on the content making up your GIF, you can use any of the free online tools to snip your file together. I personally like ezgif.com. It allows you to play around with settings and create exactly what you’re looking for. If you run into any issues, feel free to reach out to me!
If you have access to Photoshop, you can also create animated gifs there. That’s what I do!
Step 3: Upload your GIFs to your verified GIPHY channel.
Once your GIF files are created, you’ll be ready to upload to your verified GIPHY channel. Uploading to GIPHY is pretty easy and straightforward. The most important thing to keep in mind when uploading to GIPHY is to add descriptive keywords. This is how the world will find your GIFs when searching from Instagram stories. Consider adding a location tag including your city or state, as well as your business or brand name.
